A house, especially an old one, soaks up the emotions of its occupants.

Old places have soul. I have always been fascinated with old buildings especially if they have a unique story to them and still contain details of times gone by. It is amazing to think how so many old buildings have stood the test of time. Considering the advancements in both technology and the materials used to construct buildings today, I am still amazed as to how an old stone house can keep you warm in winter and cool in summer without assistance from an electronic heater or air-conditioning unit. The image above was taken in an old building which use to be a Spanish Consulate. I love this image as it evokes different emotions in people when they look at. The various elements which make up the image work well together and add to the overall effect of creating an eerie feeling. This leaves the viewer with a number of questions which are left unanswered as there is a lack of evidence within the image to support various scenarios which could possibly describe the scene photographed.

Simple elegance is something to strive for.

There is beauty in simplicity. Gone are the days where less was considered more. There was a time where beauty was not measured by one's physical apperarance but by their nature. It is sad to think that times have changed so greatly in such a short period of time. Today we live in a society where woman and young girls of all ages try to cover their imperfections with make-up in an attempt to look "beautiful"in terms of the way the media perceives and projects this idea of true beauty. No amount of make-up or shape wear is going to make you more beautidul than the way you are when you wake up in the morning. We all have our flaws, embrace them! If you can't love yourself, you can't expect others to do what you can't.

Fashion is an art and you are its canvas.

We live in a society which consists of many different races and cultures. This diversity has resulted in our country having an array of fashion trends which are unique to individuals within these racial and cultural groups. The way in which people dress has always intrigued me. It's fascinating how within a small region there is such a difference in the manner in which people dress and what they percieve as fashionable or trendy. For this photograph I wanted to depict the idea that women are able to make a bold statement and lasting impression with the outfits they wear. Women should embrace their body types and should be able to dress in a way that leaves them feeling both attractive and confident.

Open your eyes and see the beauty.

They say the eyes are the windows to one's soul. They portray one's emotions in the purest form and they never lie. I absolutely love the detail in this young lady's eyes and had to post this image. The strong contrast in colours and textures in this photograph seem to enhance one another and direct the viewer's attention to the eye. The variety of bold and contrasting colours and different textures among the mottled leaf, her wavy hair, soft beanie and the smoothness of her skin all provide the viewer with a variety of elements to look at. I took this photograph during Autumn after feeling inspired by the changes that were happening around me. I have always enjoyed watching the leaves change colour and slowly but surely fall from their branches and form a carpet on the floor below. This is what lead to this image being created where something which is lost, old and aged can be put alongside something which new and fresh yet their beauty is equal.

"Our life is a constant journey from birth to death. The landscape changes, the people change but the train keeps moving. Life is the train, not the station."

I have always been fascinated with the way in which people lived before the invention of electricity, the automobile and the telephone to name but a few things which we modern day children take for granted on a daily basis. This, combined with my obsession over "vintage styled" objects (such as the suitcase depicted in the image above) and old fashioned clothing lead to the creation of this photograph. The concept behind this photograph came from the idea of trying to portray a young woman who was waiting for a train to come and take her away from the problems she was facing in her life. Sadly, the train was never to arrive and she would be left, waiting, hoping that it would, but is left with nothing but disappointment.
